Quintic has just returned this week from the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando where we were exhibiting the ProStance training aid. The show as always was massive with everything that’s coming in golf during 2010 on display. The inflatable balance aid, the must-have tool for any golfer wanting to improve their game, was on show for the second time at the Orange County Convention Center.
With over 250 Tour professionals already trusting this unique product, including three-time major winner Padraig Harrington, Oliver Wilson, Rory McIlory, Paul McGinley, Henrick Stenson, Bradley Dredge, Philip Archer, Richard Finch, Anna Nordqvist, Becky Brewerton… (the list goes on and on). The simple balance aid is steadily confirming it’s position as one of the most-advanced, game improvement tools on the market today.
The show this year had a very positive feel about it, much more so than last year and there was a very strong feeling amongst the golf industry that 2010 is going to be a great season.

With results at the elite end of the game that include improving driving distance, more consistancy, greater accuracy and the potential to reduce putts by up to three strokes, ProStance ensures weight is concentrated through the centre of gravity of the golfer’s body. The result: improved balance leading to powerful more consistent ball striking and smoother more consistent putting strokes.

Beatriz Recari shows off the ProStance tour bag she will carry on the
LPGA Tour this season, with caddie Andreas Thorp.
The PGA 2010 show was very successful for ProStance with plans to expand its distribution and sales both on-line and in the USA and more countries worldwide, including Japan, Korea, Ireland & South America. The biomechanical research and teaching ethos behind ProStance is set to branch out into teaching academies and high-tech laboratories, starting with Academies in the USA & Europe later this year.

Example for QuinticNetball : Chapter 1 – Warm Ups
In Chapter 1, we shall be looking at Warm Ups. I’ve sectioned these into
• Static warm ups with a ball
• Active warm ups without a ball
• Active warm ups with a ball AND
• Relays with a ball
Static Warms ups with a ball – Practice 1 : The Clock
The set Up : In pairs standing 2m a par, Player A is the feeder and Player b the worker .
The Practice : The feeder passes the ball to Player B who holds both hands up at the 12 o’clock position. Player B snatches the ball into the chest and feeds the pass back to the feeder. The practice continues with Player B changing the position of her arms from 1pm round an imaginary clock. The feeder is to concentrate on feeding an accurate pass to Player B’s hands so Player B does not have to move her arms to cleanly catch the ball.
Teaching Points :
The feeder needs to:-
• Step into the pass, transferring their weight from the back to the front foot
• Using a chest pass, position their hands in a W shape behind the ball
• Push through the ball following through to where the ball is to go
The worker needs to
• Stand with feet hip distance apart with soft knees which will ensure they are well balanced throughout the practice
• Fingers are soft and outstretched with the palms of the hands facing the feeder
• Worker is reach for the ball at full extension and snatch the ball into the chest
Common errors to look out for in this practice are:-
• The feeder over stretching the worker putting pressure on pass
• The feeder not stepping into the pass therefore not practicing the correct technique for a chest pass
• The worker waiting for the ball to come to them rather than reaching for the ball and snatching it in

Quintic Ball Roll v1.8 “The Launch Mointor for Putting” is now available to purchase… The latest version of Quintic Ball Roll software contains a number of new feature along with increased tracking capabilities and accuracy. The software tracks the ball for the first 12″ of the putt length. It then instantly and clearly shows the ball speed, sidespin (cut or hook), angular rotation (degrees & RPM), vertical bounce, launch angle and point at which true roll occurs. Crucially – and this is the most significant advance on Quintic’s already pioneering analysis tools – all of the above are reflected graphically, numerically and in a summary sheet in a way that was formerly only available for full swing analysis software for irons and woods.

Quintic Ball Roll v1.8
The edit function enables you to ensure you always have a 100% reading, the feature enables you to go back over a putt and tell the software where a dot is manually, this is if it didn’t track it properly in LIVE mode… The additional ability to create a summary of the putting session is a significant upgrade enabling the user to compare and analyze up to 20 putts. The average, range and standard devaition of the putts is automatically updated after each putt and can be save into a session folder. It is then possible to compare session results, for example, compare two different styles of putter, before or after a lesson, increase or decrease the loft of the putter… The software measures the performances of the golf ball, which at the end of the day, if what matters.
“I sold more putters in the first month I used the Quintic Ball Roll software than I did the entire previous year. It is so fast and easy to use, and gives you the results needed instantly, it completely verifies which putter is right for each customer. Thank you for putting life back into my putter sales”
Eric Simonson

Quintic Ball Roll v1.8 - Summary
“I cannot thank you enough for all your help over the last few weeks; I am very excited to add Quintic’s Ball Roll Software to my Putting Academy at The Club at Cordillera! The data provided by your system adds much more credibility to the skid and roll videos that I show each client currently. This information coupled with the SAM Puttlab offers each student- the true “Facts NOT Opinions” about their stroke. It is really nice to actually be able to quantify what is happening as we alter a putter’s lie, loft, and length over time.
Quintic is on the verge of something great with this simple analysis tool- every serious teacher should have this software on their computer!”

ProStance, the must-have tool for any golfer wanting to improve their game, is set to revolutionise the way golf is taught.
Still relatively new to the market, ProStance has been the result of three years of research and development with professionals and amateurs alike. In fact, its the professional game who cannot get hold of the product fast enough. Over 70 Tour players already trust this unique product including three-time major winner Padraig Harrington, Paul McGinley, Rory McIlory, Bradley Dredge, Philip Archer, Richard Finch and Becky Brewerton.
In addition, ProStance is making the teachers re-think, with PGA Teacher of the year, Martin Hall, pictured, another advocate who was keen to ensure he was one of the first to have ProStance at his Academy at the Ibis Golf & Country Club, West Palm Beach, Florida.

PGA Teacher of Year 08 Martin Hall & ProStance Director Stewart Craig
Whilst results at the elite end of the game include improved driving distance by up to 30 yards and reduced putts per round by four strokes, this simple balance aid is establishing its position as one of the most advanced game-improvement tools on the market today.
The brainchild of directors, Dr Paul Hurrion (Quintic Consultancy Ltd) and PGA Coach Stewart Craig, ProStance has been developed following extensive research into both putting and full swing biomechanics.
The research conducted at Quintic highlighted that golfers do not always know where their weight is truly positioned with 95% of both professional, as well as amateur golfers, not enjoying a balanced golf swing.
With the majority of golf coaches addressing faults with golf swings through compensations, it became apparent there was market for a product that addressed the root cause of the majority of swing faults – static and dynamic balance. The research reinforced the need for golfers to be stable at address and dynamically balanced during the golf swing – the result: powerful, more accurate ball striking and smoother consistent putting strokes.
Dr Hurrion commented: “Before we created ProStance, the only way to determine if an individual was perfectly balanced was to use force or pressure platforms. These are not accessible to the majority of golfers, but with ProStance we have developed a simple, yet highly effective alternative producing the same end result at a fraction of the price.”
Essentially, ProStance is an inflatable balance aid that ensures weight is concentrated through the centre of gravity of the golfer’s body. Initially it makes it more difficult for the golfer to stay in balance, but the body works very quickly to adjust to its new surroundings. Within a few swings, and without thinking, users will identify where their own weaknesses lie and begin to refine their balance.
As effective for full-swing as it is to chipping and putting, ProStance can be used to highlight where your weight is concentrated and will tune your body for improved balance. The result: improved dynamic balance leading to powerful more consistent ball striking and smoother consistent putting strokes.
With the ability to increase or reduce the pressure inside the ProStance, the product can be tailored to any size and weight. Because of the way ProStance affords you instant feedback during every swing it is set to revolutionise the way golf is taught, wherever you are in the world.
Pro/teaching packages, consisting of five units as well as single ProStance units are available, each come complete with their own carry case. For more information or to find out how to become a stockist contact info@pro-stance.com

Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke won the Women’s World Bobsleigh Championships, which were held at Lake Placid on 20th and 21st February 2009. Whereas the races that make up the eight race World Cup series consist of just two runs, the World Championships reflect the Olympics and consist of four runs, held over two days, and are only held in non-Olympic years. The results are decided on the total time for all four runs, so consistency is crucial.
After the first day, Nicola and Gillian lay in 2nd place, just 0.04 seconds behind Shauna Rohbuck / Elana Meyers of the USA, who would ultimately finish as runners up in the final standings. Although their start times were not the fastest, Nicola and Gillian had the best times in each of their two runs on the second day to finish 0.38 seconds ahead of the USA1 team and 0.62 seconds ahead of the 3rd place Cathleen Martini / Janine Tischer of Germany.
The last time that Great Britain won the World Bobsleigh Championships was back in 1965 when Tony Nash and Robin Dixon (now Lord Glentoran) won the 2-Man title, when the Championships were held at the St Moritz track. Robin Glentoran, who is nowadays President of the British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association, described it as a ‘wonderful achievement by the girls’ and said he was ‘really pleased for both girls’.
Twenty six year old Gillian Cooke, who lives in Edinburgh, only came into the sport of bobsleigh this season, after having been discovered by Nicola and enticed away from long jump. Gillian was duly selected with Jackie Gunn to brake for Nicola in the 2008 - 2009 season and now loves the sport of bobsleigh.
Nicola, who is thirty years old and lives in Sheffield, had previously driven to 2nd place in the World Bobsleigh Championships at Calgary in 2005, with Jackie Davies (now Jackie Gunn) as brakewoman. Despite coming close this season, with a 2nd place and two 3rd places in World Cup races, Nicola had never before won a bobsleigh race at World Class level and certainly chose a good time to do it, just one year before the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
Winning the World Championships tops a great season for Nicola, who with Gillian and Jackie sharing the brakewoman role, finished 3rd overall in the FIBT 2008 - 2009 World Cup, which is based on the points from all eight World Cup races.
Attempting to finish in the top 10 in the World Championships and so qualify for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, the GB2 pairing of Paula Walker / Kelly Thomas finished the first run in a useful 14th position, but crashed on their second run, after posting a faster start time, and were duly disqualified as the bobsleigh did not cross the finish line.
Quintic Consultancy Ltd would like to congratulate Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke on becoming World Champions and wish to thank the Team Coaches, ‘Gomer’ Lloyd and Peter Gunn of the British Army (husband of Jackie Gunn), and all the Team Minichiello Support Staff for their contribution this season.
